Fall Community Dinner 2015

Tree Banding on Pause

Every year West Broadway Community Organization leads the community in a fall Tree Banding effort around the neighbourhood.

This year the City of Winnipeg along with Trees Winnipeg: Coalition to Save the Elms have announced that it is unnecessary to band trees at this time as cankerworm populations are at an all time low due to yearly tree banding efforts as well as the cankerworms natural life cycle.

Due to this information we have concluded that we will hold off on banding trees until the need once more out ways the environmental cost of waste produced in this activity.
